PRESS RELEASES Interview: Rubymoon: Well we knew it was only a matter of time. When you first stepped into the studio three months ago I knew there was something unique, and I wasn’t just speaking about your drummers wardrobe (joking!). In all fairness I’ll drop the banter. Rubymoon has been and will actively support the band as we believe that there is a big future to be the champion in the space. Spectator at Interview, Katrina Furton: As individuals, and collectively as a band these five musicians bring passion, enthusiasm and high energy that emulates throughout every performance, small or larage. Their unique personalities come together tot create the diverse music that is Not 4 Nothin. Finally, a Modesto band has stepped up and is demanding to be heard. They have rochk, hip-hop, reggae, funk, rap, experimentation, and soulful hooks. What’s not to like? Any fan of any genre can connect to Not 4 Nothin. N4N Nate: Since we all have different musical backgrounds, we all add a certain flavor. We never turn away each other’s influences or ideas, rather we encourage cross pollination in hopes to expand our sound. Not 4 Nothin is performing live at the Fat Cat on April 18th 2007 at 7:30 pm, with tentative plans to play at this year’s X-Fest. They are sure to be a big hit! • 2.22.07 That goes for the band as well. Musicians are well served by diversifying their musical tastes and exposing themselves to different genres. "Not4Nothing," Modesto's very own, up and coming fiv,-piece band, exploits the values of hybridization. The group, whose members have roots in the Modesto Junior College community, triumphantly creates a unique sound by taking hip-hop, rock, funk, soul, and rap and blending it all together. Josh Robert's vocals and fresh samples flow smoothly alongside wife Maria Robert's soulful hooks and Nate Miller's solid guitar-work. Rounding out the rest of the band, Not4Nothing's rhythm section consists of the drummer only known as "APF" along with current MJC student Andy Sanchez: together the two create tight and funky beats that are sure to get you moving. On Thursday, February 22, Not4Nothing will be playing a show at the Fat Cat Music House in downtown Modesto with headliner and local favorite, "Transport." You can expect an entertaining night of diverse music along with appearances from other talented and accomplished musicians from our area. What started as a "side-project" of guitarist Nate Miller and Josh and Maria Roberts, Not4Nothing evolved into a "full-time endeavor," Sanchez relates. All band members, past and present residents of Modesto, want to deliver quality music to this city and surrounding areas. On January 6 at San Francisco's premier live music emporium "The Rockit Room," Not4Nothing competed in the first round of the Emergenza International Music Festival competition alongside eight other bands. At the end of the night, Not4Nothing took the winning number one spot with their eclectic style of rock and hip-hop. Riding that wave of success, the band will head back to the Rockit Room on March 29, where they will compete in round two of the E.I.M.F. competition in hopes of bringing home another win. Not4Nothing believes 2007 is going to be a big year for the band. Although they are quite busy preparing for round two of the E.I.M.F., the band is currently working on new material for their upcoming full-length album. "We plan on having about 13 or 14 songs out on the album," bassist Sanchez said. They also plan to play more local shows, aiming for a Modesto Area Music Award (also known as the M.A.M.A. award.) Keep an eye on Not4Nothing, as they have the potential to be one of the few good bands coming out of the Modesto area today. Anyone who truly appreciates music can find a taste for Not4Nothing. Go and check these guys out at the Fat Cat on February 22. • 1.06.07 Although it was a few days after the champagne corks had popped, and the fireworks displays lit up this City By The Bay, for the official start of the New Year, it was a great night for Rock ‘n Roll on Saturday, January 6, 2007, at S. F.’s premier live music emporium, Rockit Room, with a full fare of nine great bands performing a mix of genres, and a house packed full of fans to support them in the continuation of the Emergenza International Music Festival’s 1st round competition. Bands and their fans from as far away as 100 miles attended this event. Not 4 Nothin’, is a blues hip-hop band from Modesto, California, that came in at #1 for the night. The Rockit Room rocked with their supporters, and the crowd surged with every word of Not 4 Nothin’s crisply delivered hip-hop verses set to a tight rhythm foundation. Congratulations you guys! •
